Busy Days

Soon, June 5 and 6, 2010, I will be doing the sidewalk Art Show.

Unfortunately this will be, after 30 years, the last year I will do this show. I have mixed emotions and have struggled with those emotions. It is time to begin new adventures. I do not know yet what those adventures will be, but it is time to create and go with the flow. Making and sharing the art is what matters...

Cheryl Dolby did a great job covering the Ope Studio Tours this past weekend! I got to get a feel of what the other artists had going on! I hate I could not go visit myself.

The Doorway

Here is my last new work for the week. It is called, 'The Doorway'. This piece is another Citra Solv collage. What a fun and interesting way to create unpredictable textures, patterns, and images.

All This I Am

I am excited! I just got notification that I had a piece of work accepted into the juried show, “All This I Am” – Honoring Women Through the Arts that will be at the Hayloft Gallery in the Jacksonville Center in Floyd! My watercolor, Emerging Spirit was the piece accepted!

I am falling in love with my garden again!

Little Abstracts

I have ordered clayboard and it seems everyone else has too. The clayboard, which I use for printing my landscapes, has been back ordered for weeks now. I need to research and find another source. Until then, I have that creative burst of energy to make something, so I pulled out the acrylics that I never use and I am making 'cards' 4 x 6 inches. These are small abstract studies. Who knows, maybe I will cut them all up and use them in my regular collage cards, or maybe not.

Spring and Rainy Days

It does not matter too much if it turns out the way I expected it too...

Running

Sometimes, I feel like I am on the hamster wheel of life.

With the promise of spring coming, the time changing, and warmers days,

I got a chance to get outside and dig in the dirt a little. I should be making art,

doing laundry, writing letters and sending cards to friends, paying more attention to housework, and taking time to breathe.

Somehow, just digging and being able to sit outside was heavenly.

I feel as if the wheel stopped, for a moment.

This is a digital photo collage. The photo, for me is symbolic of the wheel we all run on, around or under. The city is representative of the work we have to do, the establishment, the rules or the guidelines. The trees and foliage represent the lush of life, the things we enjoy. We all need to balance that ever-rolling ball we run on.

Right now, I am able to keep on top of the wheel, but I know at any time it could change.

This morning I got up and went walking at a local park. It felt great to get the blood circulating...Afterwards, I rode around looking at the mountains and sky. Everything was clear, calm, and beautiful. I was able to relax once I got back to the cabin, so, I decided to create some monotypes. I only wish I did not have to stop and clean up...

New Places and Sights

Last weekend I took a little day trip. I was riding along and happened across these huge concrete spheres. I had to photograph them. I wish I had more time to follow the shadows and changes in light. I was intrigued at how organic they appeared.

Driving

Each morning on my way to work, I often stop to take photos of various landscapes along the way. This week was particularly intriguing. The morning sun was reflecting through the clouds and the snow created a surreal aura.
