Virginia, United States
I guess you could say I was born an artist! My intrinsic artistic abilities appeared around the age of 1½ years old when I began scribbling colorful imagery on my bedroom walls, later carving designs and cryptic messages on my parent’s fine furniture. Over the years, I have continued my artistic endeavors working as a monotype printmaker, painter, mixed media artist, and jewelry maker.

A Few New Pieces

I am afraid I have not been very productive lately. I have been working and taking grad classes again. Spring break is in the near future, so, look out! I feel heavy inspiration coming! Here are a few monotypes for now.

Cool Charms

I recently participated in two International Charm Swaps! above are some examples of my charms. I created 4 sets of 25 charms each and I received close to 100 charms back! I am still debating on how to show these off. I was tempted just to wear them as a pendant, changing them daily, but I really think I want to make them into a bracelet of some sort.

The link http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/ch.html will take you to an example of another swapper's finished product. They are so cool!

These links are also great! I get extremely inspired to make collages or other creations when I browse these sites!

One of my recent inspirations came when I found a bag of old watch parts. I rearranged parts for days, finally, this pin was created.

New Pochade Box, New Watercolors

A few days ago my new pochade box arrived! I got mine on eBay (LOL), but you can get them from Judson's. http://www.guerrillapainter.com/Product.asp?record=1

Today I painted a few mini watercolors. I had so many requests for small snow scenes, so, that is what I decided to paint. Many are the ATC (Artist Trading Card) size, 3.5 x 2.5 inches. ATC's have become quite popular. I have a nice collection of several artists ATC's. Also, I have been doing the 'ART SQUARED' size 4 x 4 inches. These also are highly collected.

Below are some of today's outcomes.

Landscape Quotes

Since I am a landscape artist, I wanted to share my favorite landscape quotes.

Winter Creek monotype by gls (C)

Any landscape is a condition of the spirit. Henri Frederic Amiel

The landscape represented a sanctuary of protection and peaceful comfort. I try to guard the beauty and privacy of it with respect and consideration. Walter Annenberg

More varied than any landscape was the landscape in the sky, with islands of gold and silver, peninsulas of apricot and rose against a background of many shades of turquoise and azure. Cecil Beaton

Our deep respect for the land and its harvest is the legacy of generations of farmers who put food on our tables, preserved our landscape, and inspired us with a powerful work ethic. James H. Douglas

Certainly one of the more common experiences in the jazz field is discovering someone new. Improvising musicians are capable of being musical travelers, voyagers. We want to join in on whatever we hear. There is a freedom to wander the musical landscape. Gary Burton

The lifestyle that an artist can have, the freedom to wander in the landscape with no real pressure or deadlines, was a very attractive one. John Dyer

Landscape is a piece that is emotional and psychological. Jim Hodges

Painting the landscape was, in a sense, another means of exerting control, of imposing order on the disorderly. Tracy Kidder

Then I paint again for a while: if the sun is shining a picture of the lake, if it's overcast then a landscape from the window of my room. Gustav Klimt

For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value. Claude Monet
