I guess you could say I was born an artist! My intrinsic artistic abilities appeared around the age of 1½ years old when I began scribbling colorful imagery on my bedroom walls, later carving designs and cryptic messages on my parent’s fine furniture. Over the years, I have continued my artistic endeavors working as a monotype printmaker, painter, mixed media artist, and jewelry maker.

Wax, Paper, and Thread at 310 Art Gallery, Asheville, NC (Encaustic Monotype Classes) Collaboration Gina Louthian-Stanley and Erin Keene

I first met Erin Keene in my encaustic monoprinting class last year at 310 Art Gallery, since I have had the pleasure of collaborating with the fabulous Erin Keane for two summers at 310 Art Gallery in Asheville, NC! Day one I offered demonstrations and taught the waxy goodness of the encaustic printmaking processes and techniques for participants to create waxy papers for day two.

Day two, Erin taught her magic, showing us options on how to create on top of the waxed prints from my tutorials, mounting them on a substrate, and then instructing us on the long stitch, chain stitch, and explained the coptic stitch.

A special thanks to Fleta Monhagan for hosting us at 310, and to Bet Kindley for opening up her home to me! It is always a pleasure to teach in Asheville! I have been fortunate to meet so many new fellow artists and amazing people who come to the classes to create. It's a fantastic start to the summer!!!

Below are just a few of the works created.
