I guess you could say I was born an artist! My intrinsic artistic abilities appeared around the age of 1½ years old when I began scribbling colorful imagery on my bedroom walls, later carving designs and cryptic messages on my parent’s fine furniture. Over the years, I have continued my artistic endeavors working as a monotype printmaker, encaustic painter, and mixed media artist.

  • Oh, Cut It Out! Collage Class.January 31, 2026- 10- 4 PM                                                                                                                          Collage” comes from the French word, meaning to glue or stick together.Collage is, in fact, a technique utilized in the art world to create through the process of assembling different forms together to imagine something completely new. However, collage is only limited by your imagination and how well your glue holds.Collage can be created by utilizing a variety of mixed mediums along with – photographs,   magazine and newspaper clippings, sheet music, book pages, product and packaging labels, just to name a few. The term 'Papier Colle'       was coined by both George Barque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th Century, when collage became a distinct part of       modern art. Although Braque and Picasso made collage famous and mainstream, these two well-known Parisian artists were not the first       to create within this art form. Come find out more and have fun creating your own collages! Gina will furnish the pre-cut substrates, pastes, cutting mats and tools, as well as a plethora of ephemera and imagery. Email Gina for a short materials list.                                           Register via: https://www.artprojectroanoke.org/

PAINTING WITH FIRE 2023:

follow the link to sign up for my online course. --> ://tinyurl.com/483vtp65

I will be teaching two lessons called, New Dimensions in 3-D with Encaustic. You will learn how to prepare a substrate and a plethora of techniques to create your own voice on the structures you build.

In this workshop we will dive right in exploring the sculptural possibilities of plaster cloth, wax and encaustic to construct an encaustic 3-D work which best represents your personal idea or creative desire. Rigid and strong when dry, plaster cloth makes a wonderful support for dimensional encaustic work.

For this lesson you will need scissors, a pan of water, plastercloth and green floral foam or another sturdy substrate of choice, and  encaustic medium.

This lesson is about creating the bases for the 3-d Sculptures that we will create in much more depth in lesson two (to be shown in the coming months).

Safety: “ALL foam needs to be 100% completely covered with plaster before any fusing occurs. Papers must be transparatized with wax prior to fusing. Only LIGHT fusing is needed to bond to plaster and wax. Always practice safely and have emergency items handy, as one always should.”
